WEEKLY ENCOURAGEMENT

NOW WHAT??!
Did you vote? How do you feel about the outcome? I am sure not all of us are happy about the results of the election. In fact, some people are not only unhappy but fearful and anxious about how it will affect our future. It is so easy for us to take some factual information and then to run all the "what ifs" through our minds. The truth is, no one knows what is going to take place in the future, not even Mr. Obama.
In the midst of all our thinking and feelings, let us not forget Who is in control! If God did not allow Mr. Obama to be president, he would not have won this election. God is sovereign! We may not understand why or what the Lord has in mind, but then, that is not our responsibility. The things of this world are running on the Lord's timetable and He will accomplish His plan. "Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me. Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:" Isaiah 46:9-10
It is not a time to be afraid; for fear is not from our Lord. "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7 It is time for born-again believers to take a stand, Word of God in hand (His sword), shields of faith polished and live in the power our Lord has provided for us as His children.
"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:" Ephesians 6:10-17
It is time for us to dare to be an Esther, Daniel, Joseph or Steven.
Matthew 24:6 comes to mind: "And Jesus answered and said unto them, see that ye be not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet." I do not know what the future may require of God's children, but I am certain that He is always with us and has all things at all times under control. We need to spend more time thinking about our Lord and His promises than about all the "what ifs" of the future.
Remember, "Ye are of God little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world." 1 John 4:4
