ACCOMPLISHING THE IMPOSSIBLE
"When God is going to do something wonderful He begins with a difficulty. If he is going to do something very wonderful, He begins with an impossibility." -quote by Rev. Chas. Inwood
Sounds wonderful! We have read a few stories where God has done absolutely amazing things and maybe even heard some testimonies about His power, but are we - are you, experiencing it in your life? A member of our church asked me, "Why don't we see miracles today?"
My answer to her was, "Maybe we aren't looking!"
It is important at this point, to define our terms. What is a miracle? Webster's Dictionary defines a miracle as an event or action that apparently contradicts known scientific laws. W.E. Vine's "Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words", defines miracle as works of supernatural origin such as could not be produced by natural agents and means.
So let us consider again the question of do we see miracles today? The answer it emphatically YES! I personally feel the problem is that we take some of them for granted, and have our own specific ideas of what God should do in the realm of miracles.
Are you a born-again child of God? What greater miracle could you experience than being made a new creature and have the Holy Spirit abiding in you? I have watched one particular man in our church over the last year. We met him 25 years ago when he married one of the young ladies in our church. At that time, he wanted nothing to do with us, God or the church. During the years that followed God worked in his heart drawing him to Himself. In May of 2007 he accepted Christ as his personal Savior. Since that time I have watched an outstanding miracle. A man that worked hard for his money and wanted it for his own use and amusement, now cheerfully and generously gives to the Lord's work. A man that begrudgingly came to a church service one or two times a year, now never misses a Sun., or Wed. night service. Not only that, but he joyfully works every Saturday on the church building! Last New Year's Eve, he and two other men in our church planned a special time for those who wanted to come. This particular man bought all the meat for the group (about 30 people) and when I talked to him that evening, he said, "I could hardly wait for tonight!" That is a change that can only come from a supernatural origin; that is a miracle!
What has changed in your life? Are you a new creature in Christ? "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, al things are become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17 If so, than YOU ARE A MIRACLE. Are you living in the reality of your new position? Are you enjoying direct access to your heavenly Father? Are you resting in His promised care in your everyday life? If not, I strongly suggest you take some time and find out why not. Maybe you have never accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. The choice is yours. POINT TO PONDER:God wants to do miraculous things through you and I, are you willing to be used?
